The Kitsilano Showboat, an iconic open-air amphitheater located at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver, was originally built during the Great Depression and has been a vibrant community hub for over 90 years.

Known for its distinctive blue and white stage overlooking the picturesque English Bay, the venue has hosted a diverse array of performances, from multicultural dances to live music, all set against the stunning backdrop of the North Shore Mountains.

In April 2023, a devastating fire severely damaged the Showboat, leading to its temporary closure. The fire destroyed much of the infrastructure, prompting the city to condemn the building. However, the community's strong attachment to the Showboat spurred a significant restoration effort. Plans for rebuilding were quickly set in motion, with the aim of preserving the historical essence of the venue while incorporating modern safety features

By June 2024, the Showboat reopened, continuing its tradition of free public performances.

For those interested in attending events at the Showboat in 2025, the schedule will be available on the Kitsilano Showboat website

The lineup promises to feature a diverse array of performances, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Vancouver.

The Showboat's resilience and the community's dedication to its preservation highlight the enduring importance of this iconic stage in Vancouver's cultural landscape.
