Vancouver, BC - Kitsilano, a vibrant neighborhood in Vancouver, is set to become a haven for beer garden enthusiasts every summer. Only 160 days until May 19th, 2025 when summer in Vancouver is set to begin. That is when three outstanding venues promise to attract locals and tourists, especially those with a European flair for outdoor relaxation and good drinks.
The first gem is Kaisereck, nestled in the Granville Island Market. Founded by Roman Lerner in 1994, thirty years ago, Kaisereck brings the taste of Germany to Vancouver. Roman, who grew up working in his parents' restaurant in Friedberg, Germany, decided to continue the family tradition in Canada by opening this delightful deli. Known for its authentic German comfort food and a licensed patio, Kaisereck is a place where patrons can indulge in delicious meals and enjoy a refreshing beer, all served by Roman and his welcoming staff.
Second, The Marketplace Kitsilano offers a novel experience in a previously unused lot between Bayswater and Balaclava. This new outdoor space is perfect for a laid-back, community-centric hangout. With areas for kids and dogs, a beer garden for adults, and a bustling artisan market, it’s a spot not to miss. Cozy up at handcrafted tables and soak in the ambiance under patio lights while savoring food truck delights and local musical acts. Melissa Topakian, the event coordinator, emphasizes that this space is all about community and cultural diversity, making it a heartwarming destination.
Finally, head to Kitsilano Beach's new pop-up patio, a collaboration between the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and Batch. Batch is the crew serving food and drinks out of a shipping container at the Plaza of Nations. This beachside venue offers a pop-up burger shack and a lively atmosphere with local music. Although alcohol service is limited to weekends, the pop-up venue promises a quintessential Vancouver summer experience with its mouth-watering menu and stunning views.
These three beer gardens not only celebrate diverse culinary offerings but also embrace community spirit, making them a must-visit for Europeans longing for a taste of home amidst Vancouver's scenic beauty.
