Vancouver, BC - March 28, 2025 - University Canada West (UCW) has expanded into Vancouver House, a landmark development situated at the foot of the Granville Street Bridge in Vancouver, British Columbia. This strategic location places the university between the bridge's on and off-ramps, integrating it into the city's dynamic urban landscape.

Beach District

Vancouver House is the active core of a new waterfront neighbourhood called the Beach District. The Beach District community is a year-round destination, with a marketplace, creative workspace, innovative retailers hosted in 5 Shipping Containers with rotating year-round programming, a unique mix of restaurants and cafes, one-off concepts, shops and services, food carts and craft fairs, all animated by a range of street celebrations, block parties and pop-up events.

The decision to establish a campus at Vancouver House aligns with UCW's commitment to offering accessible, high-quality education in prime urban locations. The campus's proximity to amenities such as Sunset Beach, English Bay, and Vancouver's extensive Seawall enhances the student experience by blending academic pursuits with the city's vibrant culture.

Future Building of the Year

Vancouver House, celebrated for its innovative architecture, was designed by the renowned Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The project's distinctive twisting tower has garnered international acclaim, including the World Architecture Festival's Future Building of the Year award in 2015. UCW occupies over 90,000 square feet within two podium buildings of this development, providing state-of-the-art facilities for its students.

Range of Programs

UCW offers a range of programs, including Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, Associate of Arts, and Master of Business Administration (MBA). These programs are designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge applicable to various industries. The Vancouver House campus accommodates more than 3,400 students, fostering a diverse and dynamic learning environment.

President's Message

In his President’s Message, Dr. Bashir Makhoul, President and Vice-Chancellor, emphasizes UCW’s commitment to fostering creativity and leadership, preparing students from over 110 countries to excel in their careers through practical, technology-enabled education. The university prides itself on a diverse community, supported by dozens of student clubs and exposure to Canada’s Indigenous cultures, alongside programs enriched by entrepreneurial faculty with real-world experience. Through hands-on opportunities like practicums, case studies, and inter-university competitions students gain a global perspective on economic and social challenges, making UCW a vibrant hub for ambitious learners ready to leave their mark on the world.

The first term at the new Vancouver House campus commenced in July 2020, marking a significant milestone in UCW's growth and its contribution to the evolving Beach District community.
