Krista Braathen is a highly experienced professional arborist with over 20 years of tree care and management expertise. Having grown up in the natural surroundings of North and West Vancouver, Krista has spent her life among the forests she now expertly stewards. As the owner of Heartwood Tree Consulting, she is dedicated to preserving the health and safety of urban and community forests.
Krista's formal education in forestry began at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), where she graduated with a degree in Forestry. She became an ISA-certified arborist in 2003 and has worked extensively as a municipal arborist, overseeing the urban forests of Vancouver’s North Shore. Her years of experience managing these landscapes have equipped her with deep knowledge and skills in arboriculture.
Additionally, Krista has experience as a Tree Risk Assessor and Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor, allowing her to evaluate and mitigate tree-related risks while ensuring the safety of the surrounding wildlife. Her passion for trees and commitment to preserving the environment makes her a trusted expert in every community she serves.
